Trump Family In Talks For Stake In Binance As Changpeng Zhao Seeks Presidential Pardon

Trump Family In Talks For Stake In Binance As Changpeng Zhao Seeks Presidential Pardon

The Wall Street Journal reported that representatives of US President Donald Trump’s family held discussions with Binance about acquiring a stake in the cryptocurrency exchange. Binance reached out to Trump’s family representatives in 2024, offering a business deal as part of their strategy to resume operations. This move comes at a time when Binance ex-CEO Changpeng Zhao is seeking a Presidential pardon.

Zhao criticized the report, stating that no felon would mind a pardon and mentioning that the WSJ got the facts wrong. The report also suggested that Trump might acquire a stake in Binance or use his crypto venture, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), for a similar deal.

For Binance, this potential partnership represents an opportunity to re-enter the US market after facing regulatory challenges. Steve Witkoff, a longtime friend of Trump serving as his special envoy to the Middle East, has been involved in negotiations. Trump criticized the WSJ on Truth Social, claiming they are influenced by the European Union’s agenda against the USA.

The key takeaways from this situation include discussions between Trump’s family and Binance for acquiring a stake in the exchange, and the possibility of Trump using WLFI for a similar deal.
